Presented by Kupferberg Center for the Arts\, Flushing Town Hall\, and Louis Armstrong House Museum in partnership with NYC Parks\, the Queens Jazz Trail Concert Series honors Queens’ extraordinary jazz legacy and community spirit. \nMILES DAVIS CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION! Trumpeter Wallace Roney Jr. is a rising force in jazz known for his dynamic performances and deep connection to the tradition. The son of acclaimed artists Wallace Roney Sr. and Geri Allen\, he was shaped by influences including Miles Davis and Freddie Hubbard before graduating from Oberlin Conservatory. Roney Jr. has performed with celebrated artists such as Chick Corea\, Jimmy Heath\, and Ornette Coleman\, and is now a sought-after presence on the New York and New Jersey jazz scene. \nThis concert will take place at Archie Spigner Park in Jamaica. It’s free—just show up! Bring a blanket\, lawn chair\, picnic\, friends—even your dancing shoes—and join us for an evening of live jazz in the park!

Don’t miss this all-inclusive week on all things trumpet! \nAs part of your summer camp registration you have access to 1 on 1 lessons for five weeks from July 14 – August 14. DESCRIPTION:Date: August 22 2026 \nTime: 1:30 PM\nLocation: Louis Armstrong House Museum \nThis community gathering will celebrate the voices\, histories\, and lasting impact of the Corona Collection through an afternoon of storytelling\, reflection\, and intergenerational dialogue. Hosted at the Louis Armstrong House Museum\, the event will bring together students\, artists\, and community members to explore how personal histories continue to shape Queens and future generations. \nGuests are invited to bring an item that represents their family’s story\, connection to Queens\,  New York\, or their cultural heritage. This could include: A family photograph\, newspapers\, magazines\, documents\, letters\, oral histories\, a cultural object\, or anything that represents one’s history.  \nThe event will include the premiere screenings of the oral histories of the neighbors who knew Louis and Lucille Armstrong; a reflective talk by Brianna Boyce- intern at the museum and granddaughter of one of the Corona Collection narrators Debra Grinage and conclude with a community dialogue on family and intergenerational archives

Lucy Yeghiazaryan is an Armenian-American vocalist and violinist emerging as a leading voice in contemporary straight-ahead jazz\, blending her cultural heritage with the American jazz tradition. Born in Armenia and raised in New Jersey\, she honed her craft through the Jazz for Teens program at NJPAC and is now based in NYC\, performing at venues including Jazz at Lincoln Center and Birdland. Yeghiazaryan has worked with artists such as Harold Mabern\, Houston Person\, and Terell Stafford\, and is a recipient of grants from the Doris Duke Foundation\, Chamber Music America\, and the New York Foundation for the Arts. \nThis concert will take place at Astoria Park in Astoria. It’s free—just show up! DESCRIPTION:One of the most anticipated music releases of the year is Mother of the Blues: The Complete Paramount Recordings\, 1923–1928\, the definitive new 5-CD boxed set from the GHB Jazz Foundation celebrating the legacy of Gertrude “Ma” Rainey\, widely recognized as the “Mother of the Blues.” \nJoin jazz historian and author David Sager\, who wrote the collection’s historic new liner notes\, for a special presentation exploring Ma Rainey’s extraordinary life\, groundbreaking career\, and the making of this landmark release. The recordings have been meticulously restored by acclaimed audio engineer Doug Benson\, bringing new life to Rainey’s complete Paramount recordings for a new generation of listeners. \nThe presentation will take place on Thursday\, September 17\, at 2:00 p.m. at the Louis Armstrong Center. Copies of Mother of the Blues: The Complete Paramount Recordings\, 1923–1928 will be available for purchase in the Museum Gift Shop. \nIf you are unable to attend the event\, the boxed set may also be ordered online through the GHB Jazz Foundation or the official promotional website.
