Inspired by the iconic Queens Jazz Trail Map\, this free concert series brings the borough’s rich jazz history to life in beautiful community parks—where legends like Armstrong\, Coltrane\, Fitzgerald\, and more once called home. Presented by Kupferberg Center for the Arts\, Flushing Town Hall\, and Louis Armstrong House Museum in partnership with NYC Parks\, the Queens Jazz Trail Concert Series honors Queens’ extraordinary jazz legacy and community spirit. \nJOHN COLTRANE CENTENNIAL CENEBRATION! Vincent Herring and Steve Turre unite two of jazz’s most distinctive voices\, blending hard-bop fire\, deep swing\, and fearless improvisation. Acclaimed saxophonist Herring has performed with legends including Art Blakey\, Dizzy Gillespie\, and Freddie Hubbard\, while Grammy-winning trombonist and pioneering seashellist Turre brings Afro-Cuban and Brazilian influences shaped through collaborations with Ray Charles\, McCoy Tyner\, and Herbie Hancock. Together\, they deliver performances filled with rhythmic energy\, expressive depth\, and uncompromising swing. \nThis concert will take place at Baisley Pond Park in Jamaica. It’s free—just show up! Bring a blanket\, lawn chair\, picnic\, friends—even your dancing shoes—and join us for an evening of live jazz in the park!

DESCRIPTION:JULY 21 THROUGH JULY 25\, 2025\n9:00 AM – 3:00 PM \nYou are cordially invited to participate in the second annual Louis Armstrong Summer Teaching Institute. The Louis Armstrong Educational Foundation is partnering with the Queens College School of Education on a Summer Teaching Institute for secondary educators. This is a one-week institute held at the Louis Armstrong House Museum and Queens College (more information is in the flier). The institute is free of charge and will include a travel stipend and CTLE hours upon completion. We have a phenomenal line-up of world-class teaching artists and faculty who will help educators integrate the life and legacy of Louis Armstrong into English and History curriculum. This inspiring week of workshops aspires to contextualize Armstrong’s contributions firmly within historic and 21st Century constellations of artistic excellence\, democratic values\, cultural diplomacy\, civil rights\, and more. \nTo see the institute in action last year\, please Watch the Trailer Here. \nTeachers can use this form to register.
