Inspired by the iconic Queens Jazz Trail Map\, this free concert series brings the borough’s rich jazz history to life in beautiful community parks—where legends like Armstrong\, Coltrane\, Fitzgerald\, and more once called home. \nWayne Tucker is a Grammy-nominated trumpeter\, composer\, arranger\, vocalist\, violinist\, educator\, author\, actor\, and model based in New York City. He has toured and recorded with a wide range of acclaimed artists\, including jazz greats Kurt Elling\, Dee Dee Bridgewater\, and Cyrille Aimée; pop icons like Taylor Swift\, David Crosby\, and Elvis Costello; R&B artists Ne-Yo and Gabriel Garzón-Montano; hip-hop performers Jidenna and Ryan Leslie; and the rock band Brass Against. \nFEAT. Wayne Tucker – Trumpet/Vocals; Miles Tucker – Sax/Vocals; Chris McCarthy – Keys; Tamir Shmerling – Bass; and Julian Miltenberger – Drums \nThis concert will take place at Astoria Park’s North Lawn. It’s free—just show up! The first 100 attendees will receive a newly printed Queens Jazz Trail Map! \nExperience the vibrant legacy of jazz in the heart of Queens this summer! The Queens Jazz Trail Concert Series takes you on a musical journey through the borough’s rich jazz heritage\, where legends like Louis Armstrong\, John Coltrane\, Dizzy Gillespie\, Ella Fitzgerald\, Count Basie\, Tony Bennett\, Lena Horne\, and scores of others once called home. \nInspired by the iconic Queens Jazz Trail Map\, the series brings this rich history to life in our community parks. Join us for a series of five Thursday evening concerts\, each set against the backdrop of Queens’ beautiful parks. These FREE outdoor performances celebrate the past\, present\, and future of jazz\, showcasing talented musicians and honoring the borough’s legendary artists. \nThe George Gee Swing Orchestra has been at the forefront of the modern swing resurgence for over four decades. A regular headliner at Lincoln Center’s Midsummer Night Swing\, this swing big band was a favorite of the legendary Savoy swing dancer Frankie Manning. They have performed a long series of dance events in his honor across New York City\, Boston\, Chicago\, San Francisco\, and Tokyo! Lindy Hoppers around the country and the world are captivated by George Gee’s high-energy shows!
