Announcing the 2026–2027 Armstrong NOW! Artists-in-Residence

Latest update • October 21, 2026

The Louis Armstrong House Museum is pleased to announce the 2026–2027 cohort of Armstrong NOW! Artists-in-Residence, featuring Edmund Boateng Akrofi, LaTasha Barnes, Kweku Sumbry, and Chief Adjuah.

Through this year’s residency, connected to Armstrong in Ghana, the four artists will explore the enduring influence of Louis Armstrong’s music, legacy, and historic 1956 visit to Ghana. Drawing on the Louis and Lucille Armstrong Archives, each artist will pursue research and creative experimentation that brings new perspectives to Armstrong’s life and work while exploring the connections between music, movement, history, identity, and the African diaspora.

Bringing together distinct artistic practices and cultural perspectives, the 2026–2027 cohort will engage with the archives as a living resource—one that inspires new work, fosters creative exchange, and carries Armstrong’s legacy into the future.
